Star of the Week: Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory)

09/16/11 - 09/22/11

"A guest in my trundle bed and a boy at my door? I wish I could tell thirteen year old me it does get better!"

Much like "Show of the Week" honors our personal favorite program throughout the week in review, this feature will honor the single performance of a star who wow'd us with their intensity, their comedy, or whatever makes them...them!

If you don't already watch The Big Bang Theory, I can't express into words what you're missing out on. Perhaps one of the funniest programs on television, and currently, some of the credit for that goes to Mayim Bialik for her brilliant portrayal as resident female neurobiologist, Amy Farrah Fowler.

Introduced in the third season finale as a potential girlfriend of lead character, Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), Amy Farrah Fowler quickly caught on with audiences and was promoted to the main cast in Season Four. Her intellectual wit, mixed with general appreciation of maintaining a social life for the first time in her life, makes her one of the pure standouts in a cast where not a weak one in the bunch exists.

This past week, The Big Bang Theory aired two new episodes back to back on Thursday night; The first being where Amy truly shined through while trying to cope with a distraught Penny (Kaley Cuoco). Attempting to help out, she informs her dear friend that Catherine the Great was also floozy, yet respected, much like Penny could one day be.

Things transition into a slumber party between the two, which is all the rage on Fowler's Facebook page. When Penny contemplates moving back to Nebraska following a fledgling acting career, Amy begs her to reconsider for the fact that her own newfound social life would die without Penny's help.

Oh...and she also creates her own language too! Gop-rop-e-a-top!

Throughout all of the humor The Big Bang Theory brings to us, Bialik finds a way to stand out as one of the most hilarious characters in existence. For that, she becomes our first ever "Star of the Week".

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS 8/7 CT
