SNUB CITY: A Look at What Remains Unappreciated in Awards

It's no secret that with such a limited amount of spots on the ballot for award shows, not everyone can get the proper recognition they so rightfully deserve, but sometimes it can begin to grow frustrating just watching your favorite shows ignored year after year after year.

In this article, we take a look at five programs that just never seem to see the light of day when it comes to emmy nominations. Make no mistake about it, we are overjoyed to witness hits such as The Good Wife, Parks & Recreation, and Modern Family see success and accolades, but one has to wonder how some of the following seem to go every year without even the slightest chance at securing the golden statuette.

Without any further ado...

CHUCK

Stars Zachary Levi & Yvonne Strahovski
One of the most creatively brilliant shows out there today. My knowledge only pertains up to the fifth episode of season three since I'm currently playing catch up before the final season begins, but I was already completely won over from the get go. It's a crying shame that nobody from the program has been nominated for an emmy outside of Stunt Coordination and Main Title Design, for this show offers so much more to a viewer. The concept is fresh, unique, and not seen anywhere else on TV...so why can't the Academy see this?! One can hope it will get the Friday Night Lights treatment and finally see some recognition for it's final season, but at this point, we'd be grateful for even just one nomination!

COMMUNITY

Stars Joel McHale & Gillian Jacobs
I'm sure you've heard everyone and their mother bring up how witty Community is. With one of the greatest ensemble casts currently on television, it does not surprise me that none of the actors or actresses are singled out specifically (outside of Joel McHale), but rather that the show itself has not been up for the Best Comedy category. Again, this is one of the more original concepts out there, and with so many stars involved, not one of them stands out as the weak banana, in the sense that they could be easily replaced. Like pretty much each show we discuss here, there's always hope for change. Could Community become the hit with award shows that it is to its strong fanbase? _________________________________________________________

COUGAR TOWN

Stars Courteney Cox & Busy Philips
I don't even know where to begin with the constant disregard for one of the most entertaining programs on television. It's not even just the show, but both leading lady, Courteney Cox, and Supporting Starlet, Busy Philips, were also shunned from any awards this year. Granted, the title does possibly affect the television academy from wanting to give it a fair chance, but we urge the viewing audiences to simply ignore it and give this show the admiration it deserves. With a new name on the way for its third season premiere in November, perhaps next year it can finally be rewarded for the incredible work everyone involved puts into it. Until next year...

PARENTHOOD

Parenthood's Ensemble Cast
Parenthood was a show that I was not won over on the pilot episode, in fact, I took a lengthy break after viewing it as I only felt it was decent. When I eventually got back into it, I could not stop watching until I had blown through both seasons in mere days. This cast is phenomenal, and the program itself is one of those feel good shows where it really makes you wish you were a part of the Braverman family. After a brilliant second season, it did come as a surprise to see not one nomination this year. I'm starting to notice a trend that most of these snubs are occuring with NBC related programming...hmmm.....

THE MIDDLE

Stars Neil Flynn & Patricia Heaton
Most of you might not know exactly what The Middle is about, but if you did, I'm sure it would win you over instantly. Yes, it's one of those family comedies about the daily life of a small town group, but the comedy sets it apart from your average show. While it's not as successful as Modern Family, sometimes, we feel it's actually funnier. The leading actors are Neil Flynn (Scrubs) and Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond), but the child stars involved really bring the show to life with their wit. It might be the easy comparison to Modern Family, but we'd like to see this show really shock the emmy voters next year if it can perform another strong season as the past two have been.
