Show of the Week: True Blood
09/11/11-09/17/11
With the first week of the fall TV Season upon us, it comes as a surprise to be debuting our new self-explanatory "Show of the Week" feature on a program that just had it's season finale, but there is no superior episode to bring attention to this week than True Blood's "And When I Die".
So much happened that it's hard to put into words, but without a doubt this had to be one of the greatest episodes of the entire series run. It featured the deaths of four characters, the softer side coming out of one who always seems to be rather rough around the edges, and most importantly, one of the most surprising final scenes ever!
I was pretty bummed to see Jesus be written off because he had grown to become one of the highlights of the season for me personally, however both Nan and Debbie were no major loss. In fact, Debbie was met with applause from this viewer until I realized what had just happened prior to Sookie eliminating her...
The biggest moment in the season had to be the last minute or two of this episode. Debbie had a gun pointed at Sookie, just about to take out the captivating southern belle, when out of nowhere, her best friend, Tara, runs into the fray and manages to shove Sookie out of harms way; taking a bullet to her own skull.
Sookie cradled Tara, as she pleaded for someone, ANYONE, to help her...and with that, the season drew to an earth shattering conclusion.
True Blood's fourth season has been perhaps one of my favorites; definitely top two against Season one. I feel like they went out with a bang, and I'm anxiously awaiting the upcoming year to find out what exactly happens to Tara. Will she be killed off for good? Maybe a Vampire? Ghost? Who Knows?! It's nice to always have a little suspicion, and True Blood has done just that! Two thumbs up to everyone in Bon Temps.
